Worth considering

A few more ideas

Extras that fit the route. Little touches are also tucked into the days above, marked with a gold "Extra" note.

Blue glacier ice

Whale safari from Andenes

Sperm whales feed in a deep canyon just off Andenes almost every summer day. Add a night in Andenes, or take an early 6 am safari on Jul 10 before the ferry if the timetable allows.

Puffins at Bleik

Bleiksøya, just off Bleik beach, hosts tens of thousands of nesting puffins in early July. Short boat trips circle the island.

Midnight Sun concert

The Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø runs a late-evening concert in summer — organ, cello and the sun streaming through the glass wall.

Arctic surf at Unstad

Unstad Arctic Surf offers beginner lessons in thick wetsuits. Unforgettable, and a great story back home.

Pack for four seasons

Expect 45 to 65°F, wind and rain. Bring layers, a waterproof shell, hiking poles, and a sleep mask for 24-hour daylight.
